Frequently Asked Questions.

How long do freeze-dried treats last?

Freeze-dried products can technically last about 25 years! Crazy right?

As long as the product stays in a sealed package, in proper conditions, they can last for years. We don’t think your pets will appreciate staring at them on the shelf for that long though, and due to our packaging having “windows” they will be freshest if used within 6-12 months!

Once package is opened and exposed to oxygen, it’s best if they are consumed (by your pet, not you!) within 1 month. To maintain the absolute freshest of treats once opened, keep bag sealed, dry, and out of direct sunlight (you can keep in the freezer if desired, but do not put products in the fridge, this can cause added moisture that may cause them to spoil).

Why freeze-dried?

Freeze-drying is probably the closest thing to eating a fresh, raw piece of food as well, actually eating a fresh, raw piece of food! I know we all love our pets, but who really wants to carry around fresh beef liver in their pocket?

Unlike baked and dehydrated treats that will often cook out some of the nutritional value, freeze-drying actually maintains almost all of those wonderful nutrients you get from a fresh piece of food!

How should my products be stored?

Freeze-dried treats should be kept in a cool, dry place, and out of direct sunlight. Direct sunlight and heat can cause moisture to build up inside the bag, which can cause premature spoiling.

Once opened, bags should always be kept sealed when not in use, and they should be used within 1 month of opening for optimal freshness!

How come the colours vary, or change over time?

Due to our products being made with fresh, real ingredients, colours may vary from bag to bag for many reasons, this is normal! Colours may also fade or change over time due to our product bags having “windows” as the sunlight exposure can cause some colour fading. Exposure to oxygen and moisture can also cause this once the bag has been opened, so be sure to store them in proper conditions, and use quickly (your pets won’t mind, we’re sure!) to prevent spoilage.
